Why Is There Water Flowing From My Ductless AC in Concord, NC?
Ductless AC systems should never leak water. Homeowners in Concord, NC and elsewhere must all understand that, if this happens, it means trouble. To help you handle that trouble, let us explain a few of the likely reasons why your ductless AC might start leaking.
Dirty Filters
As your system’s filters do their job, airborne debris will attach to them. If pollutants build upf on to your filters too abundantly, however, total airflow through your system will decrease. When this happens, not only will overall performance falter, but some debris will inevitably find its way to your system’s coils.
With grime covering their surface area, the coils cannot absorb heat from the air that passes over them, causing the temperature inside the system to drop and any stray condensation there to freeze. When the system defrosts and melts the ice, water will probably leak out.
To prevent this from happening, clean your system’s filters about once every two to four weeks. Also, have HVAC technicians clean your coils and other components during a periodic tune-up. You should schedule HVAC maintenance at least once a year.
Cracked Drain Pan
Condensation may accumulate in your system’s air handler units because of ordinary operations, and the purpose of the drain pan is to gather such condensation after the system removes it from the air handlers. However, for a variety of reasons, the pan may crack, leading the water inside it to leak out.
Backed Up Drain Line
After going into the drain pan, condensation should flow into the system’s drain line and empty out to the outside. However, drain line blockages may prevent this from happening and cause the water to back up, return to the drain pan and overflow. A technician can clear your drain line for you during a maintenance appointment.
Since even a slow and seemingly feeble trickle of water might eventually prove to be a problem for your home and your ductless system, we advise you to take immediate action against leaks. Call Dulin Mechanical Services, Inc. to sign up for our HVAC services in Concord, NC today.
